David Edgington founded E.B.Spares in 1969, moving from a position as Alfa Parts Manager from the legendary Alfa Dealers Rob Walker’s garage. From 1969 and through the early 1970s business revolved around Giuliettas, Gulia Sprint/Spiders/Ti’s, 2600s, Giulia Tis and GTs. Secondhand parts were scarce and EB soon became the main source with each item being thoroughly clean, inspected, labelled and wrapped for storage---such was the quality that Alfa Dealers and even Alfa GB were regular customers. Demand for crankshafts, cylinder blocks and heads exceeded demand leading to over 400 Alfas being broken as donor cars.
As the market changed EB moved from used to new spares increasing to its present stock holding of over 12,000 lines covering a period from the 1960s Giulia through to the 156, New GTV and Spider.

2004 is really a double anniversary,35 years for E.B.Spares and an amazing 40 years involvement with the Alfa Romeo marque for David Edgington. Nowadays David spends his time hunting difficult items, covering shortages and maintaining the stock holding. Holding a large stock of 1960s parts(at prices people can afford!) requires a lot of time as many items have to ordered well in advance or made especially, while shortages need to be covered quickly to keep cars on the road and owners happy. At the other end of the scale building up a stock of parts for newer 16v Alfas (156, New GTV & Spider) takes considerable time as prices need to be much lower than those offered by Alfa Dealers in order to encourage newcomers to experience Alfa ownership.

Doreen Edgington (seen with her prize winning 1600 GTV) usually to be found hiding behind the scenes in the accounts department----well somebody has to perform the thankless task of paying the bills. Every business needs an efficient accounts department and someone to spend time unraveling the ever increasing barrage of red tape inflicted upon us by the Brussels bureaucrats.

Mainstay of the business Kevin has been at EB for 15 years coming from Benalfa cars where he did an Alfa Romeo apprenticeship under Alan Bennett another ex-Rob Walker man. Kevin needs no introduction, as he’s the one you speak to when you telePhone for parts or advice and he’s the one who answers your e-mail. He’s a mine of information, exudes enthusiasm and takes a great pride in assisting Alfa owners who are experiencing spares problems.

In the 1970s our shipments arrived once a month and took over a week to arrive, nowadays they are sent every week and arrive in three days.
