Also called CVV2 and CVC2, the CV Code is a three or four digit
number printed somewhere on the card. It is usually accompanied
by either the entire credit card number, or just the last four
digits. It can be printed right side up or upside down.
On VISA and Mastercard, you will find the 3 digit code on the
signature line on the back of the card. On American Express, a
four digit code will be silk screened on the front, on the right-hand
side.
It is used to protect Merchants and Cardholders from fraud.
